THE PURPOSE OF THE LIGHT

By Angela Miles

A burning candle

There was a believer that always found joy in encouraging and uplifting others. The believer always had an uplifting word to share with others. The believer always helped others to see the good in most situations, and always found a way to put a smile on everyone's faces. There came a time when the believer was faced with someone who felt threatened by the believer's light. This person began to do and say very harmful things to and about the believer. The believer couldn't understand why the person was doing and saying all these negative things. The believer began to focus on self and forgetting the God who lived within. The believer allowed the negative person to have authority over the believer's light. The believer's joy began to dim and the encouragement that use to bring such happiness to others began to fade. Then the believer read Matthew 5:15-16 that stated that believers are the light of the world. It said that the believer's light could not be hidden. The light within the believer was meant to bring light to everyone around. The light that the believer had always shown forth glorified God and taught all who saw that light how to lift up their heads, no matter what, and be encouraged because the ever-present Father is the source of that light. The believer made a choice to take back the authority that was given away and once again spread joy, happiness and encouragement. Once the believer took the focus off the negative and place it back on the source (God), the negative person realized that the negative weapon that was used against the believer was not going to have its intended affect and decided to move on. The purpose of the light that the believer shared was to glorify God, uplift others with hope, and save the believer! Are you letting your light shine or are you hiding it?

Just saying...
